The Sunday Times storybook initiative

In May 2009 the Sunday Times storybook initiative was launched. Readers were asked send an SMS to donate to raise funds for the books.
From November 2009 to March 2010 a staggering 650 000 storybooks were donated to 5 200 primary schools nationally.
The storybook has 10 stories written and illustrated by South Africans. The English book has also been translated into Sesotho, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa and Afrikaans.
YOU CAN ALSO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HELP CHILDREN TO READ.
You can buy 2 storybooks in any of the languages above for R30 and we will donate 4 storybooks to a school on your behalf – the money will be deposited into the Sunday Times Readers’ Charity Account and will be used to publish the storybook in IsiNdebele, Sepedi, Venda, Setswana, Siswati and Tsonga later this year.
